Medium to Medium

Music Inspiration & Favorite Artists

My Go To Music

“Medium to Medium” is class project, where I chose some of my favorite artists and their albums as inspiration to execute my compositions. While designing, I listen to a playlist I have of artists which I enjoy listening to on repeat, as well as discovering constant inspiration by submerging myself into their music. Twenty-One Pilots, Cage the Elephant, and Tame Impala were the artists I chose to include in my project.

Execution

From my chosen artists, I selected specific album covers which we had to utilize to serve as inspiration. Changing the medium and execution of the original artwork into my own medium, creating new compositions. Each one has been altered into a GIF, reflecting the movement of sounds each band radiates through their music.

Twenty-One Pilots

This GIF composition is inspired by the layout and cut out shapes seen on Twenty-One Pilots’ “Blurryface” album. Manipulating closeup photographs of nature, including plant life and a flowing river, is depicted within this piece.

Cage The Elephant

This GIF composition is inspired by the use of inverted line work seen on Cage the Elephant’s “Melophobia” album cover. Using black and white lines to create inverted image layers, resulted in the subject releasing lively rays.

Tame Impala

This final GIF composition is inspired by the melting movement from Tame Impala’s “Currents” album cover. The sun’s rays we love to feel sinking warmth into our skin, are seen melting throughout the sky.
